Your National Day offer will bring a flood of messages, and most of them will ask the same five things. Reply within five minutes and the offer pays for itself. Leave those messages until morning and you have cut your price for nothing.
The November calendar for National Day offers
National Day is 20 November, which is a Friday this year. The Ministry of Labour has already set the public holiday for Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November. With the weekend after it, many people get four days off, from 25 to 28 November.
So this season has two peaks: the week around the 20th, then the long weekend, when people have time to browse, book and shop. That gives you about five weeks from today. It is enough time to get the offer right, as long as you don't leave it until the night before.
Where last year's offer went wrong
Take Thuraya (a composite example). She runs an abaya boutique in Al Khoud with two staff. Last November she posted "20% off for National Day" on Instagram and put it on her WhatsApp status. Within two days she had around 140 messages.
"How much after discount?" "Is it on the new collection also?" "توصيل لصحار؟" Then a voice note asking whether size 56 in black was still there. She answered between customers, then again from 10 pm to 1 am. When the offer ended, some chats were still unread. She fixed it this year, and we will get to how. First, why it went wrong.
An offer that leaves out the price, the end date and the delivery cut-off is really just a queue of questions you will answer one by one.
Design the offer to be asked about
Before you post anything, write one short offer card that answers what people will ask. If it isn't on the card, someone will message to ask.
- What is included: name the items or services, not just "selected items".
- The price after the discount in OMR, not only the percentage.
- Start and end, with a date and a time: "until Saturday 28 November, 11 pm".
- Delivery or booking cut-off: the last order that still arrives, or the last slot, before the holiday.
- How to order in one message: "Send the item name and your area".
- What is not included, such as gift cards, earlier bookings or other offers.
What the slow replies cost
Here is a worked example. The percentages are assumptions for illustration, so swap in your own numbers.
| Step | Example |
|---|---|
| Offer enquiries over the season | 140 chats |
| Share arriving after 9 pm (assumed 40%) | 56 chats |
| Of those, buyers who go elsewhere by morning (assumed half) | 28 customers |
| Average order value | OMR 25 |
| Sales lost to slow replies | OMR 700 |
Saved replies for the obvious questions
A saved reply is a message you write once and send with a couple of taps. In WhatsApp Business these are called quick replies: type a slash to pick one. Write them in the languages your customers use, and keep each one short.
| Customer asks | Saved reply starts with |
|---|---|
| How much after discount? / بكم بعد الخصم؟ | The full offer price list in OMR |
| Till when? | Ends Saturday 28 November, 11 pm |
| Delivery to Sohar or Nizwa? | Areas, fee and the last order date for holiday delivery |
| Is it on the new collection? | Exactly what is in and what is out |
| Still available in my size? | Today's stock note (see below) |
Stock answers that update
"Still available?" is the question that goes out of date fastest. Keep one stock note: a short list of what has sold out and what is running low. Update it at opening time and again after the evening rush. Then paste it into the saved reply.
Pick one person to own that note. When something sells out, the reply should offer the next best thing ("black is gone in 56, navy is here") rather than just saying no.
Turn the rush into contacts you can message
The rush leaves you with hundreds of new numbers. That doesn't mean you can send them promotions. Under the Personal Data Protection Law, you need the person's written consent before you send them advertising. Consent here simply means a clear yes from the customer that you can show later.
So end each completed order with one question: "Would you like us to message you on WhatsApp about future offers? Reply YES." Note the date they agreed. Tell them they can reply STOP at any time, and when someone does, stop at once. Never add everyone who asked a question to a broadcast list.
What Thuraya changed this year
This November, Thuraya's post is her offer card: prices in OMR, the closing time on 28 November, and the last delivery date for Sohar. Her five saved replies are ready. One staff member updates the stock note twice a day, and every finished order ends with the consent question.
Every message asked the same four things. This year the offer post answers them before anyone types.
The late-night chats were the last gap. A chat assistant such as Chatbot.OM can answer WhatsApp and the website overnight from the same offer card, voice notes in Omani Arabic included. That way her evenings go on packing orders, not typing the same answer again and again.
What this means for you
- By 1 November: write your offer card with OMR prices, end time and delivery or booking cut-off.
- By 10 November: save your five quick replies, in Arabic and English.
- From 18 November: update the stock or slots note every morning and evening.
- 25 to 28 November: decide who covers chats over the long weekend, including late at night.
- After the season: send offers only to customers who replied YES.
Is National Day on the 18th or the 20th?
Since 2025 it has been 20 November. The 2026 public holiday is Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November.
Can I message everyone who asked about last year's offer?
Only those who agreed to receive offers. Asking a question is not consent to promotions.
Should my offer run through the holiday?
If you can cover the chats, yes, because people have time to shop. If you can't, end the offer before the 25th and say so clearly.
The bottom line
A good National Day offer is one your chats can keep up with. Put the answers in the post, keep five saved replies and a stock note that stays current, and ask every buyer for a clear yes. That way the rush turns into sales now and a list of customers you can message legally next time.
